Early Action Bodes Well for Kaha Syndicate and Mulcaster Bloodstock

Experienced bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster has come out guns blazing on the second day of NZB’s Book 1 Karaka 2018.

Within the first half hour Kaha Syndicate and Mulcaster Bloodstock joined forces to acquire a Savabeel colt (Lot 108) for $425,000. Consigned by Waikato Stud, the striking colt is out of Chilled Out (NZ) (Anabaa) who is a half-sister to the Group 1 performed mare The Big Chill (NZ) (O’Reilly).

Mulcaster who already has a filly from the same family was pleased to secure the colt with the group of owners he has put together under the Kaha Syndicate banner.

“We have a sister to this colt and she has won her last two starts in Sydney which has been very promising,” commented Mulcaster.

“We thought he was a lovely colt which is what we came to try and buy. We are very happy with the horses we have bought from Waikato before.

“We will leave him here for about eight months and let him go through the system before he heads to Melbourne for a small preparation. He will then go to the Sydney stable.”

In quick succession, the duo secured the next colt to walk through the ring at Lot 109 outlaying $220,000 to secure the son of Ocean Park who was also consigned by Waikato Stud.

“We had Scream Park run in the Karaka Million 3YO Classic on Saturday and he ran an acceptable race. He probably felt the ground a little bit,” said Mulcaster.

“For the owners to come and have an enjoyable time, they really loved it. We will be looking to bring another horse again next year.

“We have some Ocean Park’s and we’re happy with them – it makes sense to keep sticking to what you know.”

Kaha Syndicate and Mulcaster Bloodstock secured two colts at the opening session last night bidding to $120,000 for a Charm Spirit colt (Lot 5) and $300,000 for a Savabeel colt (Lot 83).
