5 January 2004

Friday's New Zealand Bloodstock Royal Stakes at the Auckland Racing Club saw a new leader in the prestigious New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series and a new contender take home the top points for the race.

Buckle My Shoe (Rory's Jester x Rose of Marizza) won the race by length and earned 8 points, her first points in the Filly of the Year Series, for her win. Smart filly Kainui Belle (Kashani x Lady Ukiah) raced home to take second position by a short head and with the 4 points from her placing she now has 25 points in the Series one point ahead of former Series leader Taatletail (Faltaat x Defensive Lady) who did not run in Friday's race.
