Stallion Expo Impresses Crowd

25 August 2003

A crowd of over 500 people gathered yesterday to view the 2003 Stallion Expo at New Zealand Bloodstock's Karaka Sales Centre in Auckland.

The 20 stallions were all well received with Fayette Park Stud's Don Eduardo proving to be an obvious crowd pleaser. Don Eduardo was sold at the New Zealand Bloodstock's 2000 National Yearling Sales Series for $3.6million, making him Australasia's highest priced yearling to date.

Other first season sires Viking Ruler, Ustinov, No Excuse Needed, Riviera and Pyrus also commanded a lot of attention alongside their more experienced counterparts in Keeper, Ebony Grosve, Germano, Magic Ring, Postponed, Quorum, Rossini, Spectatorial, St Petersburg, Stark South, Sudurka, Colombia, Desert Fox and Cullen.

Also of great interest at the Expo was the trade stand area where interested breeders utilised breeding & mating software, made available by various studs, in order to assist their decision on which sires to send their mares to.

The Stallion Expo is organized by the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders Association. For further information, please contact Peter Francis on 021 977 732.
