All Eyes To Ashwell Farm

7 March 2003

Sunday's Ashwell Farm Foal Sale represents the first opportunity for buyers to inspect foals by the beautifully bred resident sire D'Cash, with the foals being described by Ashwell Farm's Ray Knight as very impressive.

D'Cash has one of the best pedigrees in the Southern Hemisphere. He is a winning son of international sire phenomenon Danehill, who is one of only two stallions in the world to have produced over 200 stakes winners, with a staggering 49 of these Group 1 winners. D'Cash's credentials as a sire son of Danehill are further enhanced by his dam, the brilliant Australian race mare Canny Lass, a winner of three Group 1 races and four times placed at Group 1 level. D'Cash's immediate family also features the Champion Australian 2YO and successful sire Canny Lad, along with the Group 1 Queensland Derby winner Camarena.

D'Cash has eight foals on offer:

LOT 1 x HONITON This colt is from a winning sister to the multiple Group 2 winner Chagemar and a sister to the stakes placed Be Reasonable. The triple Group 1 winner Chantal also features in this family.

LOT 2 x INTERJECT A colt from a winning stakes placed sister to the stakes winner Matabele.

LOT 8 x PROFESS This filly is a sister to Listed winner Rochae and is from the family of the black type winners Giboulee, Proliferate, Victorious Answer, Victorious Trick and Bahamian Knight.

LOT 15 x WAIKEEPER A colt from a winning stakes placed mare who has left two winners from three foals to race.

LOT 21 x CINEMA This colt is from an unraced sister to the multiple stakes winner Colonial Chief. The black type winner Suitcase also features in this colt's pedigree.

LOT 22 x COMEDY A filly from the family of Group 1 winner Blackfriars and the stakes winners Waterford Road, Royal Handout and Caribou.

Lot 26 x FIRST DAWN This nicely bred filly is a sister to the multiple Group winner She's Fun from a sister to Group 2 winner Devante. Other stakes winners in the immediate family include the Group 1 winners Trappings and Sound Horizon, Group 3 winners Never Say, Century Boy and Jolly Good Thought and the Listed winners Leggings and Record Breaker.

LOT 27 x GREY TONE A well bred colt from the family of Group 1 winners Kind Regards, Vice Regal, Valencia and Sky Chase, along with the black type winners Primrose Sands, Glammis, Bolster, Hammed and Star Quality.

Another regally bred Ashwell Farm stallion whose foals will be presented for sale this weekend is Kingfisher Mill. This young Group 2 and 3 winning stallion is by Champion French sire Riverman from Charming Life, a full sister to Zabeel and a sister to the Group 1 winner Baryshnikov. His breeding suggests that his offspring will relish stepping up over ground as three year olds, as he himself did. To date, Kingfisher Mill has had just the two race day starters for the one place-getter, Azure.

Kingfisher Mill has four foals and one yearling catalogued in the Ashwell Farm Foal Sale:

LOT 3 x LADY VICE A colt from the family of dual Group 1 winner The Gentry and the stakes winners High Grove, Rainfall and Nostradamus.

LOT 5 x OPERETTA This colt is from the family of European black type winners Carol's Treasure, Panga, Flame Violet, Canteen, Staincross and Madam Gay.
