King'S Chapel Cleans Up In The Classique

From his favourable barrier draw King's Chapel bounced out to take the lead and never looked back, holding out the fast finishing Volksraad fillies Shadowfax Babe (Volksraad x Pavillion) and Eftee One (Volksraad x Bashful Lady) by a comfortable � of a length.
The Mark Walker trained colt's race tally now stands at a flawless three wins from three starts. The brilliant youngster is owned by the Tauranga Racing Syndicate and was purchased by their manager, David Ellis, at the 2002 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Sale for $35,000 from the draft of Norelands Stud.
King's Chapel has proved to be a very astute purchase, having now amassed over $400,000 in prize-money courtesy of the Mercedes Super Bonus Series races. King's Chapel will probably be given the chance to further add to his winnings, with a start in the $120,000 Group 1 Ford Ellerslie Sires' Produce Stakes on March 1 his likely next mission.
The handsome chestnut colt is a great ambassador for the Mercedes Super Bonus Series, with him showing that through the Mercedes Series 2YO racing in New Zealand can be very rewarding. All graduates of the current New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sales are eligible to be enrolled in the 2003-04 Mercedes Super Bonus Series.
The next race in this season's Mercedes Super Bonus Series is on Waitangi Day at Ellerslie, with a $10,000 Mercedes Bonus up for grabs.
