Purrfect Finish To $25,000 Mercedes Super Bonus

9 December 2002

The cats were out in force at Wellington on Saturday with Purrfection (Tale of the Cat x Nothing Less) taking out the Mercedes Super Bonus Juvenile (1000m), for 2YO Fillies.

Trained by Graeme Rogerson & Steven Autridge of Hamilton, Purrfection raced home to beat Danette (Danske x Amynette) with another Tale of the Cat filly, Swing The Cat (out of Awave) filling third position.

Purrfection was one of 5 of the 10 horse field, eligible to win the $25,000 Mercedes Super Bonus. In fact the first 3 home were all nominated in the Series.

Purchased by Graeme Rogerson at this year's New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of the Trelawney Stud, Purrfection adds to this season's great success rate in the Mercedes Super Bonus Series. So far this season 7 of the 9 bonus prizes offered have been struck.

Purrfection is raced by Rogerson in partnership with the manager of the Rogerson/Autridge New Zealand operation, Denise Howell, The Pizzaz Racing Co and Messrs M.G Ring, B.M Taylor & M.G Thurecht.

The next race in the Mercedes Super Bonus Series is the $150,000 Colts & Geldings Prelude at Manawatu on 21 December, followed by the $150,000 Fillies Prelude at Auckland on 26 December.
