Stylish Win By Sedecrem In The $100,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Classique

16 April 2002

It was a Faltaat quinella at Tauranga on Saturday when 3YO gelding Sedecrem outclassed his rivals with a convincing win in the $100,000 New Zealand Bloodstock 3YO Classique. Sedecrem (Faltaat x Real Trier) charged home to beat Gwen's Rules (Faltaat x Bushfire Dancer) by a long neck, followed by race favourite Coup Ray (Exploding Prospect x Echostatic) in third place.

Sedecrem is owned and raced by Mr Ernie Ward, who is the Chief Executive of Mercedes-Benz New Zealand. Sedrecrem is Mercedes spelt backwards. His partners in Sedecrem include, Colin Giltrap, Winston McDonald and Peter Walker, and the horse is trained by Colin Jillings and Richard Yuill.

The New Zealand Bloodstock Classique again attracted an impressive field of 14 horses. The 3YO Classique is one of the many lucrative races open to horses that enrol in New Zealand Bloodstock's Mercedes Super Bonus Series.

Sedecrem was purchased at the 2000 New Zealand Bloodstock Festival Select Yearling Sale for $22,000 by John Foote Bloodstock, and was then entered in the New Zealand Bloodstock Mercedes Super Bonus Series.
