Karaka graduate Sacred Capital (NZ) (O’Reilly) continued his dominant form in some of Macau’s biggest races with another runaway victory in Sunday’s M$800,000 Macau Gold Cup (1800m).

In his previous start, the $580,000 Ready to Run Sale purchase had scored an emphatic victory in the M$2.6 million Macau Derby (1800m).

A similar result was expected over the same course and distance on Sunday, and Sacred Capital did not disappoint.

After settling in third or fourth position for most of the race, he cruised forward three wide approaching the home turn and took over at the top of the straight.

Sacred Capital quickly put the result beyond doubt, sprinting clear to win by three and three-quarter lengths.

Sacred Capital began his career under the name Rellson in Australia, where his six starts included a maiden victory, a fourth in the Listed Poseidon Stakes (1400m) and sixth placings in the Group 2 Autumn Classic (1800m) and Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m).

Since relocating to Macau, Sacred Capital has won six of his eight starts and earned more than M$2.5 million in prize-money (NZ$485,000). He is owned by Raffles Racing’s Dato Yap Kim San in partnership with Chen Ching Lung, and he is trained by Joe Lau.

The 2019 Ready to Run Sale will be held at Karaka on November 20 and 21, with Breeze Ups at Te Rapa on October 21 and 22. The catalogue will be online early September, with printed copies arriving in letterboxes in late September.
