$10,000 Karaka weanling purchase Mr Crowe (NZ) (Alamosa) produced a strong performance to win Sunday’s RM65,000 Dr Lim Ah Soo Memorial Trophy (1400m) at Penang.

Ridden by Brazilian jockey Bernardo Pinhero, the gelding enjoyed a handy run just behind the leaders before looming dangerously on the outside at the top of the straight. He cruised to the lead and went clear in the last 150 metres for an emphatic victory.

It was a seventh career victory from 32 starts for Mr Crowe, with five wins in Singapore preceding this month’s back-to-back victories at Selangor and Penang.

Altogether, Mr Crowe has won the equivalent of more than NZ$215,000, which is 21 times his purchase price at the 2013 National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale.
