Southern Filly Series Resumes With NZB Insurance Stakes

The New Zealand Bloodstock Southern Filly of the Year Series resumes after a summer break on Saturday with the second leg, the $50,000 Listed NZB Insurance Stakes (1400m) at Wingatui.

The first leg was the Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes (1200m) at Riccarton in September, won by Emily Margaret (NZ) (Pins). She moved to the top of the table with 7 points, and she is back on Saturday to defend that lead.

She will face a number of proven or talented rivals, including stakes-placed Dreamtesta (NZ) (Testa Rossa) and recent winners Tee Cee Coup (NZ) (Swiss Ace), Naval Fleet (NZ) (Declaration of War), Drumspirit (NZ) (Iffraaj) and Times Time (Moshe).

Each of the four races in the Southern Filly Series is worth 7 points to the winner, 4 points for second and 2 points for third.

The NZB Insurance Stakes will be run as Race 8 on Saturday with a start time of 4:05pm.
