$5,000 Select Sale purchase Danzdanzdance (Mastercraftsman) became a dual Group 1 winner with another sensational performance on Boxing Day at Ellerslie.

Having won the Group 1 Captain Cook Stakes (1600m) by four lengths at Trentham earlier this month, the super-talented grey was the clear favourite for a repeat result in the Cambridge Stud Zabeel Classic.

She duly delivered, improving from last in the seven-horse field approaching the home turn and making her bid at the top of the straight.

Proven Group 1 mare Lizzie L’Amour (NZ) (Zabeel) provided some resistance, but Danzdanzdance went clear in the last 200 metres to score an emphatic victory by three and a half lengths.

“I still actually don’t know how good she really is,” Bosson said. “She is pretty untapped and the way she is winning, she is doing it with ease, so the world’s her oyster.

“When I really asked her, she just sprinted away from Lizzie L’Amour.”

Danzdanzdance has now had 11 starts for four wins, four placings and $436,713 in prize-money – more than 87 times her purchase price.

She is trained at Ruakaka by Chris Gibbs and Michelle Bradley for owners the B.A.X Bloodstock Achieving Xcellence Ltd, S Barnao, M Hawes, J Loose, R J Stern, R Tierney and L Wotton.

“It’s so great to hear the crowd calling her name,” the mare’s proud purchaser and syndicator Kylie Bax said. “It’s an amazing feeling.”

Prior to this month’s Group 1 heroics, Danzdanzdance had placed in the Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) and Livamol Classic (2040m), along with the Group 2 Avondale Guineas (2100m).
