Group 3 Spoils for Media Sensation

$425,000 Premier Sale purchase Media Sensation (I Am Invincible) stepped up to stakes level for the first time in Saturday’s $70,000 Group 3 Partners Life Soliloquy Stakes (1400m) at Ellerslie, and she scored an emphatic victory.

A last-start winner over 1215 metres at Rotorua just seven days earlier, the Peter and Dawn Williams-trained runner went to the front in the early stages before taking a sit in second position. She regained the lead in the straight and asserted her superiority, scoring by three-quarters of a length.

“Michael (Coleman, jockey) was thrilled with her today as he said she just wanted to relax the whole way,” Dawn Williams said.

“Even in the straight, he said she was just doing her own thing and he had plenty of horse left under him at the finish. After that it is now onwards and upwards to the 1000 Guineas.”

Media Sensation is among the favourites for the Gavelhouse.com New Zealand 1000 Guineas (1600m), which will be run at Riccarton on November 17.

Media Sensation has now had five starts for four wins, earning $73,875 in prize-money for owners Sarah Green and Ger Beemsterboer’s Barneswood Farm.

“Peter and Dawn took us to the sales, and it was them who chose her,” Green said. “They do all the work and all the early mornings, and we just get to enjoy her.

“We’re so thrilled with this win, heading hopefully down to Riccarton for the 1000 Guineas.”
