Two-year-old Karaka graduate Peaceful (NZ) (Savabeel) bolstered her resume with a black-type win in the $50,000 Listed Ssangyong Auckland Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Te Rapa on Saturday, but her connections believe she will make an even better three-year-old.

Lining up for the fifth start of her career, the $260,000 Premier Sale purchase sat in midfield before moving forward to challenge for the lead around the home turn. She went clear in the straight for a two-length win over fellow Karaka graduates Cyber Attack (NZ) (Shamexpress) and Sol Invictus (NZ) (Haradasun).

“She’s a filly on the way up and she should come back better at three,” jockey Matt Cameron said.

Trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman for owners G P Clarke, JML Bloodstock Ltd (Mgr: L Petagna) and P W O’Rourke, Peaceful has picked up a win and three placings from her five starts.

The filly ran second in last month’s Listed Berkley Stud Champagne Stakes (1200m) at Riccarton. Her prize-money earnings now stand at $43,100.

“She did the job well today,” Baker said. “She’s a stakes winner now, and she’s by Savabeel and has a good pedigree.

“I think she should make a good three-year-old next season – probably over a mile to 2000 metres.”
