Sydney-based Bloodstock Agent Andrew Williams went to $140,000 to secure Brighthill Farm’s Lot 146, a colt by first crop sire Pride of Dubai, at the Karaka May Sale.

The weanling is out of Group Two winner Equiparada (Editor’s Note) and is a grandson of Group One performer Equity (Equalize). With the price tag reflecting the quality pedigree, Williams commented, “I thought he was a big, sound, strong-looking individual – he had a great colour to him and walked well.”

“He’s by Pride of Dubai who is a very commercial stallion prospect for the yearling sales next year, and out of a Group Two-winning mare.

“I don’t know exactly what direction he will head from a yearling point of view. He might stay in New Zealand or go to Australia, but he’s got plenty of commercial outlets and plenty of upside to him.

“It’s very possible, depending on where he ends up, that he could come back into this market.

“We bought some really nice stock at this Sale last year and they went on and sold particularly well, so hopefully this guy does the same thing.”

Brighthill Farm have sold five lots at the Sale so far inclduing three yearlings and two weanlings for a total turnover of $163,000.
