Well-bred mare Indecision (NZ) (Per Incanto) picked up the fourth and most valuable win of her career in Saturday’s $50,000 Listed NZB Finance Sprint (1200m) at Hastings.

A half-sister to the multiple Group One winner Viadana (NZ) (Towkay), Indecision had won three of her 13 starts before her trip to Hastings – a maiden, a Rating 65 and a Rating 70.

Thrown in at the deep end on Saturday against a quality black-type sprint field, Indecision scooted straight to the lead soon after leaving the starting gate and was never headed.

She opened up a big lead in the straight, then crossed the finish line two and a quarter lengths clear of the fast-finishing Deals In Heels (NZ) (Iffraaj).

“It was a big step up in class for her,” part-owner Cherry Taylor told NZ Racing Desk. “We thought we might sneak a bit of black type, and she’s won very impressively.”

Indecision is trained by Tony Pike and was ridden by Jake Bayliss.

The visiting Australian jockey also won Saturday’s other black-type feature in the Taylor family’s Trelawney Stud colours, guiding Richie McHorse (NZ) (Redoute’s Choice) to victory in the $75,000 Listed Royston Hospital Hawke’s Bay Cup (2200m).

“We’ve had a great day,” Taylor said.

Indecision was bred by the Little Avondale Trust and Mrs N K Smyth. Offered by Little Avondale at the 2015 Premier Sale, she was a $260,000 purchase by bloodstock agent Bruce Perry.

From 14 starts, Indecision has now won four and placed in another four, earning $61,275 in prize money.
