Rich Hill Stud’s young recruit Proisir was in demand on the first day of Book 2 with Lot 766 secured by Waterford Bloodstock for $160,000.

The Australian Group-winning freshman sire Proisir, who also ran second to Dundeel in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes, is by influential stallion Choisir.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse, the star three-year-old retired to stud with Rich Hill Stud’s John Thompson securing him in 2015.

With his first crop of yearlings coming through the ring at Karaka, Lot 766 was his tenth yearling to be sold at the Sale providing his top price yet.

Consigned by Mapperley Stud, the colt is out of the winning Pins mare Centapin (NZ) and is a half-sibling to two stakes performers including the Group 1-placed Rose of Virginia (NZ) (Thorn Park).

“He’s a lovely athletic colt with great movement,” said Mike Rennie from Waterford Bloodstock.

Ten Proisir yearlings have been sold thus far for $722,000 at an average of $72,200.
