A half-brother by new sire Bullbars to Saigon Tea is entered in the 2015 Karaka Select Sale at Lot 859 from Highview Stud.

Formally known in New Zealand as Dreamy Jayda, Saigon Tea had five starts in New Zealand for trainer Brent Gillovic, with her last two starts in New Zealand impressive wins.

From there she was transferred to Chris Waller’s Rosehill stable to kick start the new season under the new name Saigon Tea.

Rider Glyn Schofield started the race from barrier four and narrowly claimed victory over Terai (Teofilo), beating her by a long head with Metaphorical (Dylan Thomas) finishing third.

“She’s a great horse,” commented Waller. “She won last week then she’s backed-up today and won again.”

“She will now go straight to the spelling paddock. She has black-type now which doubles her value, so she’s done her job and she can go straight for a break.”

A consistent mare, Saigon Tea has placed in all of her starts this season with the exception of one race, earning a total of seven wins in her 22 starts in her career. The five-year-old mare has now earned of A$345,980 for owners Mr and Mrs Grimish.

Bred by Christine Lawrence, Saigon Tea is out of Boulevardofdreams (Daggers Drawn), the winner of the Group 2 ARC Championship Stakes and third placegetter in the Group 1 AJC Australian Oaks as a three-year-old.

Saigon Tea was purchased by Trent Busuttin for $4,500 at the 2011 Karaka Select Sale.
